The Messiah's Star
The light of the Messiah's star
Shines on a rude and battered shed,
The king of heaven at his first light
Cries in the manger to be fed.
The chorus of the heavenly choir
Sings to a frightened shepherd knot,
The angel host stirs willing hearts
But peace and love are soon forgot.
The light of the Messiah's star
Guides kings to an unlikely place;
Their enmity transposed to awe,
Their awe transposed into disgrace.
The chorus of the heavenly choir
Salutes the star of boundless grace
And loving, celebrates the hour
Of incarnational embrace.
