Water
The banks of Jordan, witnesses
To Israel's freedom, now behold
The Lamb of God baptised by John
Sealing the freedom seers foretold.
The pots stand waiting, symbols of
The purity of God's design
But purer yet the blessing which
Changes their water into wine.
They wait again, on freedom's night
When he, their servant, lays aside
His Godhead and his garments to
Wash away their sins of pride.
The lance is poised, the power of state
Pierces his side; a drop of blood
And water all that's left to give
Of this world's way of doing good.
