Sleep, Little Darling
Sleep, little darling, till the dawn,
Now that the shepherds' song is done;
Snuggle the lamb to keep you warm,
Joseph will keep you safe from harm.
Sleep in the straw, so sweet but rough,
It is the best that we can do;
Life will be turbulent enough,
If what the angels say is true.
Yours is the glory, ours the pain,
Worthy when you become a man,
Until you seek my breast again,
Sleep, little darling, while you can.
