General (Vol. 3)
Child
- I love My Sweet Lord with the gifts of a child,
With an untidy prayer and a trust that is wild:
In the innocent gaze and the laughter of youth,
I can skip through the jargon to get at the truth. - I love My Sweet Lord with the trust of a child,
Where the love has no rules and forgiveness is mild,
Where the giving is whole, with no smart quid pro quos
And the taking creates so that giving still grows. - I love My Sweet Lord with the heart of a child,
With an unmeasured strength and address yet unstyled,
With the unquestioned safety of love in return,
And that love comes of giving and not what we earn.
