When Jesus Cries
1. When Jesus cries I hear him call,
He who seeks milk and human warmth,
Who could have been an earthly king,
With awesome power and matchless strength.
2. I hear the baby where I might
Be deaf to clamour from a king,
For I would never want to fight,
But would console that little thing.
3. God seems eternally in men,
And so this child gives much to me,
Of motherhood, a woman's grief,
A simple, smiled nativity.
