Blessed the Night
Bless-ed the night,
Star-bright the sky,
Silence is pierced
By a new baby's cry:
High overhead
Angels pass by;
Mary is singing
A sweet lullaby.
Shepherds asleep,
Wake in a fright,
Thunderous words
And a mysterious light:
"Good news for all,
The future is bright,
Jesus Our Saviour
Is born on this night."
Bless-ed the night
Hopeful the day,
Jesus lies next to
A lamb in the hay:
Wise men look out,
Still far away,
Trying to find where the infant
Will stay.
Bless-ed the night
Hopeful the day:
Kneel at the manger
To wonder and pray.
