Entwined
Strange skies bring trepidation,
The promise taking time to crystallise;
Each minute calculation
Attempts to curb the margin of surprise:
And we, all stirred by nagging discontent,
Look up again and wonder what is meant.
Strange roads bring aggravation,
Graft far outweighing hospitality,
Sneering and provocation
Enhancing moments of sincerity:
But we, now star-ward driven, never look back,
Gripped by the prospect, not by what we lack.
Strange smiles bring consolation,
For what appears an inauspicious end;
We kneel in veneration,
But wonder what conflicting signs portend:
Death and new life entwined upon his chart
A dismal finish for a glorious start?
