Through storm and calm the same,
Unceasing beacon of the rocky shore;
Welcoming light
Of dark and dangerous night,
Guide us to port, Transported and secure:
Though just a point of brightness in the dark,
You are the silent, life-sustaining spark.
O noble fire
To safeguard and inspire,
Infuse my soul with infinite desire.
B. The Spirit moves on the water
Like the wing of a crystal dove,
With a glowing fire affirming
The gentle power of love.
A2. Life giving stream
Of paradise supreme,
Endless refreshment for unceasing day;
The sparkling fount
Of rapture paramount,
The holy Cryux where light and colour play:
May I immerse my weakness in your might,
Baptised with hope of infinite delight.
O priceless spring
Beyond all reckoning,
Cleanse me with Grace to meet my Priest and King.
