General (Vol. 1)

Catastrophe

  1. A butterfly shivers its wings,
The atoms it ripples will pass
Their minuscule force to a cloud,
    So inducing a critical mass.
A cloud that cannot bear its weight
Will instantly start to pour down,
    Dislodging a mountain of earth
Which will bury a middle sized town.

  2. A tentative smile is ignored
    Which induces, on irrational grounds,
An increase of depression and guilt
    Which addiction and boredom compound.
The drugs turn out what was within
But the self hate is lethally caught
In a maelstrom which only confirms
That life is just brutish and short.

  3. We must watch when we shiver our wings
    Or thoughtlessly withhold a smile,
For the nature of how we were made
    Is to sympathise and reconcile.
There is torment so great and so fierce
    That united we barely withstand
    But the impact of catastrophe
Was begun in the palm of our hand.
