Twenty Four

  1. Shut fast my eyes
    And see at once the radiance within,
    Enjoy the warmth
    Of freedom from the ravages of sin:
    Our penitence and praise are now repaid
    Beyond whatever effort we have made.
  2. Where music sounds
    Absorb the heavenly harmony at play,
    Where silence falls
    Shut out distractions of the bustling day:
    Think of the Eucharist which feeds the soul
    And in that feeding truly keeps us whole.
  3. Summon in prayer
    Each tiny facet of the sacred gift,
    The paradox
    That humbling it ever more uplifts:
    Absorb each sinew of its mighty power,
    Keeping the moment, forsaking the hour.
